Smart goal setting makes use of programmes to map out your goals for business or pleasure. Goal setting is an important aspect when building a better home based business.
We have all seen the adverts earn $5,000 a week, but unless you have a plan you are never going to achieve this type of goal, sometimes by luck you will reach your goal, I always wanted to retire at 55 but never had an action plan to lead me to that goal. I thought about it and told others and ended up retiring at 50.
You cannot run a home based business this way , you need to focus on goals, one smart goal setting method I have come across is a spreadsheet where you entered basic information such as the price of product you were selling,, the hours you planned to work, your target sales, together with the sales/enquiry ratio.
The smart goal setting program then gave the results in the form of how many enquiries you needed to receive on an annual, monthly,weekly and daily basis. Additional sheets provided tracking of result.
Armed with this information and knowing how much traffic you needed to generate on a daily basis lead into the marketing plan of the smart goal setting program, here you could plan your leads generation plans direct mail, face to face meeting etc and enter the cost.
A Calendar provided prompts of when to send emails, press releases, articles, classified ads and another sheet in the smart goal setting program was set aside for results.
One aspect I liked from using a spread sheet was the what if type scenario you could perform, so you can quickly see if sales conversion rates change what effect they will have on you business.
