Many people do not realise how much censorship can negatively effect their best marketing methods. I have been aware of restriction on the Ezines articles site where I am an expert author , however they have modified their rules regarding links and I have spent the last two month trying to get as simple article posted. I have now given up because to be honest it is not worth the effort, I get a standard email that suggests what might be wrong, so I guess a computer is doing the vetting using some form of algorithm.

Algorithms seem to be flavour of the month as it is rumoured that Google Pand's update has been revised, so your SEO specialist will have an excuse to charge you more money.

I started to examine a new add in tool for Firefox today which ranks sites for safety by displaying red or green lights and warning you off from certain sites, it offered some surprising results, it would seem some sites I use have red flags. Apparently it uses an Algorithm, surprise, surprise and votes from users, however some votes are more equal than others, sounds like George Orwell's 1984.

My next task is to work out if anything is really wrong with the sites and if there is see about getting it corrected. The tool could be great provided the results are right.

2. Pricing the products or services correctly.
3. Making the products or services readily available to the customers.
4. Advertising: Promoting the product or service, which if done correctly, not only convinces customers that the product or service is preferable to its competition, but that it is clearly the only choice. This is the field of marketing "communications" .

From a small business perspective a great deal of research is required in order to provide what customers are looking for on the the Internet and some of this research will be used later in your advertising campaign.

I always tell people that they need to know all there is to know about what they are selling in order to provide good adverting copy. Advertising online is a daily chore to provides quality information that answers customers needs, not plugging the same old stale sales blurb.

Today I was speaking with someone who has just started to advertise a home based business and had used one of my advertising tools, so I asked her about what she was advertising and what form her marketing took. Her advert was perhaps a little too simple in the form

come and visit my website

and evidently her website has a contact form and her telephone number but no indication of the Company she is associated with, which seems rather strange.

I was a little puzzled with her approach but it seems that is the how the company wants business to be conducted. I was expecting her to explain more but the mystery deepened as she had paid to have the advert placed on her behalf and my tool is free.

I never did find out anything more about her business, normally you can't stop people talking, so I wished her luck and said I would contact her in a couple of months when she told me she had plans to review her advertising strategy. I will update you at a later date when I learn more

Yesterday I had a call from a Gentleman in South Korea who was seeking information on Internet usage in the Philippines as his company is evaluating setting up an online Lottery. Now although I live in the country I have not yet started to target the local market as my gut feeling is they have a big learning curve.

I told him that lot of Filipinos used Sulit a kind of local Craigs list and most use Facebook and that was about the limit of my knowledge.

Today I have just completed a little searching which confirmed most of my feelings and am passing on the following information to him.

The Philippines population is relatively young and some 20% use Facebook. Between March 2010 and now the number of users has more than doubled to 27.5 Million with the country being in top 8 worldwide having overtaken both France and Germany. It is noted that some 40% are within the 18-24 years old age group.

Filipinos are the 9th biggest users worldwide of Twitter with 16.1% of the online population tweeting.

I have also dug up an old study from 2008 by McCann Universal where Filipinos ranked:

• First in social networking
• First in sharing photos
• First in viewing videos
• Second to South Korea in reading blogs
• Second to Brazil in sharing videos
• Fourth in writing blogs
• Fourth in downloading podcasts
• Sixth in using RSS/feeds

One result which did come as a surprise was from the 2008 report concerning blog writing and I need to look into this matter further, perhaps there is an opening for recruiting content writers

I actually came across this blogpost whilst research an article and think there are some lessons to be learnt

It seems there is one born every minute someone who opens their mouth before engaging their brain.

The writer is in such a hurry to sell weight a loss elixir that he has made elementary mistakes, yes he has got the word out but no links or contact information so no customers. Just as well it is a free WordPress blog otherwise he would be out of pocket on day one.

Yes the blog name loseweightfasts might not be too bad but Lose Weight is a high competition area and much more detail research needs to be undertaken. Time should have been taken to sort out the structure and content of the blog, remove the default headers "just another wordpress blog" and "hello world".

I really feel sorry for these type of people who seem to think there is easy money to be made on the Internet, there is no lack of information out there, but jumping in without planning and research will get them nowhere apart from blowing away their dreams.

Drawing up an advertising campaign is not to be taken likely and will often involve not only market research but testing, using different layouts and images,if you are looking for inspiration go to Ads of the World I am sure you will find a spark to help your thought processes

Generally speaking there has been little of no control of Internet adverting content, however thus is beginning to change, already in the USA legal requirements are being brought into play and it is illegal to make false or misleading claims in advertising. Online there are specific types of advertising considered misleading and may be illegal or strictly regulated.

Product reviews and endorsements are one area of online advertising recently (as of 2010) regulated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Websites, blogs and advertisers are not allowed to create fake review pages for products and are not allowed to endorse products when compensation is a factor without providing full disclosure of the compensation, including getting products at no cost for review purposes.

The above has resulted in many so called Independent Distributor sites coming under scrutiny and having to either comply with the new requirements or loose their distributorship.

Control outside the USA is at the moment more lax and generally freedom of speech prevails except with the likes of China, India and some other countries who practice or tend to practice some form of censorship, mainly connect in India's case with the widespread use of mobile phones, with Internet capability.

Mobile advertising is a new area and savvy companies now need to consider how their articles display on smaller portable devices
